Description

Celebrate Saratoga’s Pioneers, a Saratoga Historical Foundation fundraiser featuring a barbecue dinner, pioneer speakers, music, live and silent auction will take place October 2. The event will take place at the historic Saratoga Springs Campground in Saratoga.

According to SHF President Annette Stransky, "this is our major fundraiser for the year. We depend on fundraising, grants, and membership dues for funding services and programs. With the proceeds from this event we want to purchase new lights and audiovisual equipment for the museum."
The event will begin at 4 PM with wine and catered hors d’oeuvres. The dinner takes place in a wooded setting just a short walk from where William Campbell had a water powered saw mill in 1848. The dinner menu will include BBQ chicken. steak, vegetarian burger with country beans, corn on the cob, salad and dessert.
The silent auction will offer gift certificates for clothing, restaurants, local wine, spa, whale watching, Niles Canyon railroad rides, original art from local artists, vintage jewelry, a commemorative 49er autographed football —over 100 items to choose from.

The live auction includes a five-hour sailing trip on the San Francisco Bay, weekend retreat with a Santa Cruz beachhouse; a painting of Saratoga from well-known artist David Stonesifer; commemorative replica of the 2008 Olympics Beijing stadium and more.

The Skillet Likkers will play during the cocktail hour. Short talks by local pioneers such as Mimi Gianini will preceed the auctions.

Tickets are on sale by calling 408-255-1883 or by downloading a ticket at www.saratogahistory.com.
