Taste of History at The California History Center, October 27, 3pm til 6pm
Join Burrell School, Loma Prieta, Poetic Cellars, Savannah-Chanelle and other local wineries for “A Taste of History,” at the newly renovated California History Center. Housed in the magnificent “Le Petit Trianon” on the De Anza College Campus. This treasure dates back to the late 1890s, and serves as the venue for lectures on local historical topics.
The October 27th event will showcase the beautifully restored sunken fountains and gardens adjacent to the elegant manor home that Charles Baldwin had designed by renowned San Francisco architect, Willis Polk, in the style of Louis XVI. The neoclassic design features Ionic columns and arched windows, and the ornately paneled dining room was furnished in white and gold. The spacious salon was an acclaimed trend-setter at the time, with its crystal chandelier, sconces and fireplace. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and an oval skylight are still features of the library. The grounds feature a formal sunken garden, pathways edged with balustrades, and a reflecting pool.
Come drink in this classic scene, while enjoying a selection of fine wines and food, and a presentation on local wine history by noted author and historian, and Los Gatos resident, Charles Sullivan.
Tickets are $75.
Featuring the wines of Burrell School Vineyards, Guglielmo, Poetic Cellars, Loma Prieta, Savannah-Chanelle and The Mountain Winery.
