Saratoga Celebrates its History
This Saturday (September 29, 2012) at 12 noon, our 5th Annual Heritage Day ( or Living History Day as it was originally called) will take place.
More than 40 costumed actors will dress as historical characters. After being introduced at Blaney Plaza (where the Memorial Arch is) at noon, these historical characters will stroll up and down Big Basin until 3 pm.
Saratoga Historical Museum will open from noon to 4 pm. The Museum will offer a free lecture by Tim Stanley, author of “The Last of the Prune Pickers” as well as a free viewing of the classic 1920 San Jose Chamber of Commerce film entitled, “The Valley of Heart’s Delight.” Old fashioned children’s games will also be provided.
Historical Presentation will take place at the Independent Order of Odds Fellows Lodge at 14414 Oak Street.
Saratoga's Mayor and City Councilmembers (with the exception of Vice- Mayor Jill Hunter who is the organizer of this event) will all be costume actors.
Please bring your family and friends to downtown Saratoga to learn about its past (and support our local businesses)!
