Bay Shore Lyric Opera Company is thrilled to have tenor FREDERICK WINTHROP starring as Otello in its upcoming production of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera based on William Shakespear’s great tragedy.
Frederick Winthrop, dramatic tenor, Is originally from Lousiana who after serving in the United States Air Force relocated to Los Angeles, starting with major roles in companies such as Opera Pacific and graduating to the San Francisco Opera stage. "After retiring from the San Francisco Opera, Fred co-founded the San Francisco Lyric Opera which he directed for seven years. He then joined the California Opera Summer festival for several years as his dual roles as both critically acclaimed dramatic tenor and talented stage director.
Fred does so much more than most general directors: He brings his years of experience to the opera companies as a singer, conductor, stage director. His portrayal of the tragic moor Otello is one of the finest ever seen and should not be missed.
