Description

The Saratoga Historical Foundation is holding a dinner,  “Honoring Saratogans” on Sunday September 21 from 4:30-6:30 PM.

The event includes a BBQ dinner and music and will be held at the Saratoga Historical Park.

The first time event will honor Saratogans who have made significant contributions in the areas of community service, local history, and service.

According to Saratoga Historical Foundation President Annette Stransky, “This dinner is one way we can recognize and celebrate the contributions made by individuals from all walks of life, across a range of areas that improves the community in which we live.  It is a great way to thank these people who through hard work and dedication, have significantly contributed to the community.”

This year's honorees include George Cooper, Warren Heid, Amy June Jorgensen, and Jackie Welch.  The following are just snapshots of their contributions.

George Cooper, World War II pilot, NASA pilot, now vintner and whose philanthropy in the Saratoga community (Cooper-Garrod estate vineyards) is well-known. Cooper has participated in many community organizations including the Saratoga Historical Foundation.

Warren Heid, award winning architect who has contributed designing homes, schools, and commercial buildings for Saratoga as well as has been involved in community service with the Saratoga Rotary, and Saratoga Historical Foundation and other organizations. Served on the Heritage Preservation Commission and Santa Clara Planning Commission.

Amy June Jorgensen, one of the pioneering families of Saratoga whose family has lived on Rawdon Dell ranch since 1878, has been involved in several local organizations including holding board positions with the Foothill Club and the Saratoga Historical Foundation.

Jackie Welch, former Los Gatos Times Observor reporter, active in the community in organizations such as Foothill Club, on the board of the Saratoga Historical Foundation, and on the board of the Japanese Cultural Society. On the steering committee for the Saratoga Community Garden.

The Saratoga Historical Park is located at 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road in Saratoga.
