Description

Local historian Mary Jo Ignoffo will give an entertaining and informative presentation on Winchester Rifle Heiress Sarah Winchester entitled "Capitive of the Labrinyth" on Monday, March 21 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church hall. The program, sponsored by the Saratoga Historical Foundation, will begin at 7:30 PM and is free and open to the public. The hall is located at 14103 Saratoga Avenue in Saratoga.
Sarah Winchester's home of 160 rooms, 10,000 windows, nine kitchens and 47 fireplaces has been a mystery to many. Did she continually build rooms to keep the local carpenters busy; avoid having relatives stay over or because spiritualists had told her it was necessary to stay alive? The presentation will dispel some of the myths surrounding Sarah Winchester.
Mary Jo Ignoffo teaches in the history department of De Anza College in Cupertino, California. She is the author of five other books about California history.
