A new book entitled, ?Willys Peck?s Saratoga? is now available at the Saratoga History Museum gift shop. The book includes selected Saratoga Stereopticon columns first published in the Saratoga News and was edited by April Halberstadt. The 64-page book includes photos, an article on ?how to be a perfect husband by Betty Peck, and tributes from Publisher Dale Bryant, Columnist Carl Heintze, and former Reporter Jackie Welch. Over 28 columns written by Peck are included covering a myriad of topics chosen for their historical content. A book signing will take place on Saturday June 19 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road at the Saratoga History Museum. Copies of the book can be purchased in advance on Friday-Saturday-Sunday at the Museum from 1 to 4:00 PM.
A book signing on the same day and time is also planned for Connie Young Yu: ?Patchwork History: The People?s Bicentennial Quilt.? This book is also available now for purchase at the Museum. The book was first published in 1976 and has been recently re-published with a few revisions. The book includes a message from Alice Keesey Mecoy, the great, great, great granddaughter of Abolitionist John Brown, concerning the quilt block produced on Harpers Ferry by her grandmother. John Brown?s wife, Mary Brown and many of their family are buried in Madronia cemetary.
