The event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.\n\nAs early as the 1850's the wave of temperance swept across the US in an effort to curtail all drinking of alcoholic beverages. Saloons were disrupted by women praying outside. Ministers preached against the evils of drink. On January 16\, 1920 the 18th amendment took effect banning the sale\, manufacture and transportation of alcohol. Some were so excited that this would finally end all crime\, that towns sold their jails! Come find out what happened during the next 13 years.
